Legacy
As Magee relates in the book, her mother, Marichu Beilby, “discovered” Aron in 1951 and commissioned him to paint her three daughters: the author Susan, her sister Elena, and their sister, Nonnie, who had died ten years previously. Aron used a photograph of Nonnie to draw her portrait. Maintaining the family legacy, Elena had Aron paint her children, Eric and Laura, in 1977, and Susan commissioned him to paint her daughter, Elizabeth, ten years later.
